Our 3rd Anniversary Event with Alton Farms Estate Winery and Maelstrom Winery - An Emerging Region Tasting at Michael's On The Thames

The London Chapter has a unique opportunity to present 2 wineries from the emerging region of Huron Shores. Both are family owned and have met the challenges of growing grapes for their excellent wines in a cool climate.

Join us for this tasting to enjoy 5 wines presented by each winery paired with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the Chef at Michael's On The Thames.

Alton Farms Estate Winery is the pioneer estate winery and vineyard in Ontario's newest emerging wine region, Huron Shores. Established in 2005, all wines are handcrafted using sustainable practices in their vineyard and winemaking.

Alton Farms Estate Winery wines are handcrafted using 100% locally grown grapes and to maintain all the flavour in their wines, they only lightly filter and don’t overly chill the wines prior to bottling.

Marc and Anne Alton purchased the property in September 2005. Today, Alton Farms hand crafts 13 to 17 different wines each year.

Maelstrom Winery took root in 2009, when the Landsborough family planted a test plot of vines to see if they would survive Huron County’s cold climate. To their delight, the vines not only survived – they thrived! So in 2010, they planted more acres of vines, and haven't looked back since.

It's their mission to showcase what Huron County has to offer, and they do this by making unique and flavourful wines produced from Huron County grapes. Their artisanal and "hands-off" approach allows the richness of the terroir to come through in the wine. Their hands-off approach results in wines that are flavourful and rich, and it's a little better for the environment.
